* After so many years of webbing I cannot change the nature of my webpages -- they are what they were from the start; notes, thoughts, points I make for myself for classes and productions. Do they have an independent existence? Maybe, somewhere in the future...

I advise my live students to print the pages and keep them in the three-ring binder together with the notes from the class. I do it myself to work on the pages having the hard copy. Topics and issues pages Support pages: links, list...
SummaryI am placing it at the end of each page for overviews at the end of each class.QuestionsNo, I am not rude, when I do not answer emails about something you can find on my webpages. It's called homework, search, research. I did mine, you have to do yours. Please, do it.![]() NotesAristotle's Poetics The original, Aristotle's short study of storytelling, written in the fourth century B.C., is the world's first critical book about the laws of literature. Sure, it's 2400 years old, but Aristotle's discussions--Unity of Plot, Reversal of the Situation, Character--though written in the context of ancient Greek Tragedy, Comedy and Epic Poetry, still apply to our modern literary forms. * Acting I : BioMethod* Acting III : Method ** Stage Directions : Stagematrix ** Film Directing : Filmmaking for Actors ** Playscript Analysis : Grammar of Drama

FAQ for the book, not the website.* GODOT.06: Doing Beckett -- main stage Theatre UAF Spring 2006 *I keep fighting with the majors, who do not get this course before they take required theatre or film class. Please, take it first; you will save your yourself and your instructor a lot of time. The fundametals of composition, the basics terminology, aesthetic laws are covered here. (Unfortunatly, it's not prerequisite in our catalogue). With non-theatre majors it's even worse! They don't think that they need it. I guess, they do not know or don't understand why Einstein played violine. They don't know that math is a silent music. And of course, they do not know that my first degree in thermodynamics and I found that science has less logic and discipline than art -- and got another degree in film.
My advise to my live students, look around first (especially, if you are about to use this directory for three months!) If I do not have the page on the topic you need, check the links. This is an intoductory core class for all majors. The minimum you need to know about the arts.
Bookmark the title pages (I keep updating the webpages, when I teach this class) -- and maybe print the pages (according to my students, it helps to remember what is where and even more inportant to get ready for the tests).
Personally, I consider the 200x Aesthetics an introduction to Theatre and Film (for majors). Something close to "Theatre Appreciation" (and to Film as well).
Biomechanics (new, a must for actors and directors)
* At the end of the class and to use as a review on the next class -- the summary.
