* Use http://vtheatre.net to link to Virtual Theatre pages! "...let us save what remains: not by vaults and locks which fence them from the public eye and use in consigning them to the waste of time, but by such a multiplication of copies, as shall place them beyond the reach of accident." Jefferson, Thomas. [1791] 1984. Thomas Jefferson to Ebenezer Hazard, Philadelphia, February 18, 1791. Finally, I made the Business Directory in addition to Webman's Diary -- about the business of building and running a website.

I limit this area only to the web-related service and virtual community.

Statement of Administrative Activies

Think whatever you want, but this webbing is indeed my "service" -- how did I get into this madness?

Film-Classes
2007 updates (3rd year review)

Notes

All three (teaching, service, research) have their (new) directories @ Film-North. Anatoly UAF -- teaching...

I tried.

I made this page -- and I have to make another one for FILM @ film-north.

Than I made a directory SERVICE...

CLASSES pages (seee the first one here). Oh, classes.vtheatre.net!

And the Students directory ...

To manage the pages I made WEB (film-north) directory and web.vtheatre.net

Enough?

But what about the shows I direct?

I am making directories for each production since I learn how to do it (1999).

And each class I teach has it own website!

... I am serving them all!

I try not to do what is already on the web (theatre internet sources Yale), but I save the links...

I save references (books/bibliography) -- each "subject" subdirectory got reference, books, biblio, appendix, links pages!

I try...

Service

Theatre UAF 2004: 2006 ... 2009
This is tricky: every time I write my annual self-evaluation I have to specify where my directing is -- TEACHING (?), where -- RESEARCH/CREATIVE, and where it is SERVICE.

Directing college theatre is a teaching tool, but you have to research and come with the concept (creative aspect) -- and, of course, you serve the community.

The distribution of hours is never the same. For example, the preporatition for a show begins a year ahead (formally, when the title is announced and placed in the next year calendar). But in order to have several titles to choose from, you have to have several ongoing projects in your head (and files). Our productions are open for the community to audition and teaching bigins with the first day of rehearsals.

I was an editor for several Theatre and Film categories with the Open Directory Project (OPD); please go there and submit your links.

There are several Forums I moderate: Directors Forum, Virtual Theatre and etc. Subscribe yourself!

Being a webmaster is nothing less than being a slave; the pages take way too much time. It's beyond "service"! Beyond madness! Since I do everything online, everything I do became "service"! Interesting... I think in public -- and it becomes teaching? I write notes for myself -- and I serve others simply because it's done out loud? Yes, literature and art always had it, but only web transformed life, private time, into a subject for observation (at least, potentially). Interesting...

Foucault calls this transparency "panopticum" (from visibility of prisoners, who are "serving time"). The existential "serving" could be seen not in negative forms, but in an inspirational view -- "serving" like in church.

Web is the ultimate public space without losing its extreme privacy!

Here is the zone between "teaching and service": More Professors Teach by Using Other Colleges' Online Courses (chronical.com).

"Some colleges find that buying online courses from other institutions is the best way to create extensive online-education programs." -- what about the idea of "free"? The very idea of academe!

... "Proponents of the idea argue that course swapping will catch on quickly once colleges realize the benefits."

Hybrid courses: Students still show up in a classroom for lectures and labs, and they go online to learn other material and take quizzes.

[ I have to finish it on teaching page ]
