2006: updates? 2007!
![]() Featured Pages: WebDictionary Side comments: Read RESURRECTION Files There are two initial stages in web-building: to build it and to maintain. You have to have the pages, but the next is anpther story: you have to maintain the level of traffic. It has to grow, if you want to expend.... If you built quality webpages, you will have the repeat visitors (in addition to new ones). After a while you get to the point when your have figures (numbers). Then you can take your pages to the next level. My rules for myself are simple: double it. Yes, friends, it's possible. Triple? Yes. Ten times more? Oh, this will require some serious changes.... ![]() Summary8.21.03 -- updates next Summer...2006. I buy domain names (anatoly.org and etc. -- see new), but still it's not a business. I use webpages for myself. (What does it mean?) Questions"Big Changes" -- users became writers (bloggers, i.e. easy webmasters). All make the WEB! They don't trash guestbooks anymore: they are busy writing, blogging! Next -- broadcasting. (podcasting is here). 3. I'm my biggest reader. My (reading) habits. (Pages are for myself). 4. Support pages: overdone? Some alternative tools (still do not know which is better). NotesRead the Webman's Blog!![]() web @ film-north

How did I get to 2k/day "impressions" (Google term)? (have it. Oct, 2005)
Never paid for advertising and stopped submitting my pages to the search engines long ago. I do not have a newsletter and never used emailling. I do not do many things by choice, simply trying to go after the most effective tactics.
I did many things wrong (lessons), mostly trying to follow the generic recommendation on how to make money og the Net, but obviously I did something right since my pages show up on the first search page by Google in many categories.
Was it the meta tags wars? Well, if you understand how the Adsense ads work, you know that Google actually "reads" your pages, the text! If you don't have much to read, bad luck. How much is this "good reading" for a machine? At least 2-3 pages of text; it has to be be around 200 words, as I ask my students to do, writing their mini-reviews.
The second interesting trend -- the "readers v. visitors"!
You see cqcounter (bottom) on most of my pages; it gives you the data on "uniques" and "reloads"... the later what you have to target, the reading of more than one page. Only recently the ration came to 50/50 -- I want the number of reload to be bigger (this is how you can get to the point, when they bookmark your pages).
blog...Summer 1998. First webpages.[ 2004 : the 4th generation of my webpages ]Christmas 1998. Several websites.
1999. Placing commercial links.
Y2K -- full madness.
2001 -- now...
2005: pages generation .05!
web 2.0 ...
What's next? 2003: as long as I do web-writing (writing straight on the web), I have to learn how to be a better webmaster. This vertical navigation, which I began this year, means I have to keep re-designing my sites and pages. Re-structuring means that I have to limit horizontal navigation to "7 + 2" and vertical -- to "7 -2" links. Also, the visualization: logos for every main directory!...
Good question!
...
Since I am a main user of my own pages; I should keep the "user's pecpective"; to make the USE of pages easy!

I do not do it for living and do not plan to. Nevertheless, the money you make is a good indicator how well you are doing as a webmaster. Again, look at my webpages. Besides the experimental (trail) ads, I have Amazon and Google as my main affiliates (it's over $100/month, so I can pay for services -- see the "support" incerts). Could I double it? Yes. What about making $2k/month?
