I do plan to bring Film&Drama class "down" to intro level, although this is 300 level film course.

I still plan to teach Visions of the Northern Mind grad class.

In directing classes we talk about three type of motion: in front of the camera (primary), movement of the camera (secondary) -- and the third = CUT!

Cuts & Shots

What is more important -- cut or shot?
The answer is both. They can't be seen separately.
But if we go into the smallest elements of motion pictures, we lose the motion and discover the old fashion pictures with the centuries old laws of visual composition. (See Visual Composition Page).
Good shots are composed for CUTS. Cut is our jump in interest to see more... Cut and shot live of each other.

When we put two words together, we are getting a new meaning. The same with two picture next to each other. Remember the famous film formula:
1 + 1 > 1 + 1

So what is this dynamic composition?

Any text by definition is an open structure and in film this law is extremely visible! In short, everything on the screen is X-effect (special effect). 24 frames per second is the ground for this magic.
