STRUCTUREFirst 3 Principles:
Plot (Plot or Story -- The Diffrence)
Character
IdeaThe three texture principles: Language, Music, Spectacle.
How do theme(s), conflict, genre fit in?
The form and meaning can't be separated in arts. According to theories of the twenties, forms are meanings.
Especially in the late modernity.
NB. Compare with film, where texture is structure. Spectacle is the central category, assuming that you understand that when we say language, we speak of FILM LANGUAGE now.
Even music is much more important in film. In playscript analysis classes I do not talk much about texture, in film classes I have do not enough time to focus of it. My advise, study Structure and when you are done with it, move on TEXTURE. In many ways this is more complex. Without mastering knowledge of structure, you can't fully understand texture.
